What the other Canajuns said…and then some, manhattan…happy smile-making post.
I dunno…I guess that’s all I’ve gotta say.
You’re good people.
“Total war, this we know, is a general attack on all fronts, by fair means or foul, however diabolical. It is war against men, women and children. There is only one way to brave total war, and that is by a full, out-and-out effort, not just for a day, a week or a month but a sustained and daily effort right up to the moment of victory”.
William Lyon Mackenzie King
Prime Minister of Canada
2nd February 1941 (speech on the radio)
Have you flown in Canadian exercises Johnny?
I’m a civilian. My “Wings of Gold” have “AOPA” on them
Unfortunately, we do have our bad apples.
I don’t know of any other country that changes its NA more often than we do just to keep some folks happy. (IIRC, it was changed sometime in the early 80’s from “Please keep our land” to “God keep our land” )
Thanks, manhattan, that you’ve noticed us shy, quiet folk up here is nice to see.
I work in Detroit, MI, but live across the border in Windsor, ON. I’ve had many of my co-workers come by my desk just to tell me how moved they were by the show of support for America when they’ve visted Windsor recently. I myself have never seen so many American flags flying in my hometown, from flagpoles, on cars (including most if not all of our police cars), in windows of businesses and homes. Many businesses have “God Bless America” in their windows and on their storefront signs.
Makes me proud <sniffle>
And Kwyjibo - yeah, I’ve been trying to ignore that little piece of news
meek, maybe we oughtn’t to stir up McKenzie King’s ghost just now, what with the how his journals show that he thought Hitler was a “nice fellow”, and that he refused to allow Jewish refugees into the country for fear of “diluting the bloodlines”.
