Meh, pair of E3s whose badging suggests they’re still pretty new to the Corps. Holding an umbrella for The Prez is probably the biggest day of their lives since they left Parris Island. My money says this is not even _close_ to the most humiliating thing they’ve done in the last 12 months. ---

If Obama had let Erdogan get wet in the rain, the OP and his ilk would have demanded his impeachment for disrespecting an honored guest. If Obama had paused the conference to move it inside, the OP and his ilk would have demanded an Issa-led investigation into “the coverup” that occurred in the walk from the lawn to the press room. If Obama had had a Marine hold an umbrella over Erdogan’s head only, and let himself get soaking wet, the OP and his ilk would have shrieked about how Obama can’t present himself with the gravitas the office of the Presidency deserves. Unless this is a whoosh, in which case, well done. ---

The Marines are not there as decorations. They’re there to serve the President. I see two of them serving the President in a useful, albeit slightly unusual, way. I really truly can’t get a handle on the outrage here. ---
