High fives! go to – Maryland (love that traditional heraldry!), South Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, New Mexico (very iconic!), Alaska B. A for effort (but major flaw in execution) goes to – California (the bear design is not simple enough for a flag, and flags don’t need captions), Arizona (nice try, but it’s just fugly), Hawaii (almost fugly), Arkansas (fugly) C. No creativity at all, but at least it’s not a seal goes to – North Carolina, Mississippi, Texas, Colorado, Alabama D. Okay, at least you added _something_ to the background or altered the seal to make it more suitable for a flag – Rhode Island, Missouri, Florida, West Virginia, Wyoming, Delaware, Georgia D-minus. Okay, it’s a seal, but at least you put in the effort to choose a color other than _blue_ – Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Washington F. State seal (or what looks like one) on a blue field. You suck. – New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, Vermont, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Oklahoma, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Oregon F-minus. Mississippi, because of the Confederate flag. Otherwise you’d have gotten a “C.” ---

That’s really irrelevant, so far as I’m concerned. Fine-lined, detailed images like that are simply inappropriate for flags. As a flag, it sucks. And, I might add, if Wyoming had left off the seal, it would have gotten at least a B. The bison silhouette is distinctive. ---

Oh, as a flag, it sucks, but at least it has a distinctive meaning behind it. And apparently, it was good enough to work back when regimental flags meant something. (eg, needed to be recognizable.) ---
