She’s missing the real clue and making an ass of herself in the process. The problem is not that Dad is not “Negro,” it’s that Mom is not “Haole.” ---

My birth certificate doesn’t give my race, either. It does, however, say I was born in Moose Jaw, but I can’t help that. ---

The Freepers were saying the same thing. Seriously, is anyone actually surprised by this? We KNEW if his birth certificate was released, people would still find something wrong with it. They’re also pulling the same old bullshit that because his father wasn’t a citizen, he’s not eligible to be president. (I guess that means Chester A. Arthur was never prez either?) ---

I heard somewhere that registrar put down whatever the parents said for race, and the president’s parents identified themselves as African and Caucasian. Considering that his father was from Kenya, it’s entirely reasonable that he might have considered himself African. ---

Well, he probably grew up thinking of himself as [Luo](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luo_people_of_Kenya_and_Tanzania) foremost (in fact, Barack Junior told folks _he_ was Luo when he first went to visit Kenya), but simplified that to “African” for the benefit of Americans. As I’ve noted before, Africans generally do _not_ think of themselves as being the same ethnicity as black Americans. ---

It would, however, be odd if the “African” referred to the current prez, which is what I thought the issue was when I read the OP. It does kind of harken back to a strange time when we put the parents’ race on the BC. Do any states still do that, I wonder? ---
