But I’ve heard the Frenchman involved identified as Foch and Clemenceau so apocryphal is probably right. ---

That hasn’t been necessary for small-scale deployments like this for at least 20 years, by my recollection. Are you upset about the mission? A group of about 100 troops have been sent to assist regional authorities in removing a madman. According to the CNN article, they’re not even conducting the tactical operations, just providing support. Their Rules of Engagement are for self-defense only. Have you been consistently against any deployments of this nature in the past, from all administrations? What makes this mission different? This one gets a great big shrug of the shoulders from me. ---
