But in the style of what vocalist? That’s the question. Fallon’s done the “Fresh Prince” theme in the style of Neil Young, and “Reading Rainbow” in the style of Jim Morrison, just for starters. I’m dying to know what he’ll do with “Hail to the Chief.” ---

I watched this, and was puzzled. We know Obama can actually sing quite well, and can mimic this kind of style effectively. So why did he play it so straight? He’s been very funny on other occasions, such as the Press Corps dinners, so why didn’t he loosen up here and get his own laughs while making his point, rather than letting Fallon and the band have the fun stuff? It didn’t work for me. He came across as stiff and bland, which I know he is not. ---
