The thing I didn’t like about Nate’s analogy is that I can dig being up a field goal with three minutes left but what I don’t know is who has the ball and where. Bring up by a FG with the opposing team facing a third and 22 on their own 6 yard line is way preferable to being up by the same amount with the other team already in field goal range. ---

By the way, as a poker player, I prefer poker analogies (plus they fit in with percentages that Nate likes… AND Nate spent some time as an internet poker pro)… Right now, Obama is an 80.9% favorite. This would be like, in a game of Hold 'Em, getting it all in with [pocket Kings against pocket deuces](http://twodimes.net/poker/?g=h&b=&d=&h=kd+kc%0D%0A2h+2s) with both players having different suits. Even the chances of a tie are not horribly off: 0.3% according to Nate, 0.5% for the poker hand (although the results of a tie are very different - in the event of an EV tie, Romney will almost certainly become president whereas on a poker table, both players split the pot evenly.) As a poker professional, I would love getting it in with all of my money on the line in this circumstance. However, as a poker player who is not a pro but an amateur who plays recreationally, I would be be fine if my entire buy-in for that day was in the middle of the pot with those odds. But it would really suck if everything I owned was in that pot since 20% of the time I lose everything… I don’t play for everything, but the election kinda is for everything… This is why I’m still nervous! ---
