In the Cretaceous era, the southern coast of the US ran through the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi, due to higher sea levels. If you live on this ancient coastline, it’s more likely that you voted for Obama. Even the Cretaceous - Tertiary (K-T) boundary remains very distinct, partisan to this day. They can’t find any common ground there at all. ---
