# Obama wants nukes-reduction deal with Russia

If America were to get rid of its nukes, what would you do if threatened by a nation with nukes?

IIRC, there was a report after the first Gulf war that Sadam and his general’s didn’t use chemical weapons mostly out of the fear that we would respond with nukes.

So while they were reportedly a deterrent, the six or ten thousand we currently maintain are far more than needed against todays threats.
