She likes natto and furikake. 5. She could happily go to Disneyland every single weekend of her life. 6. She thinks Monty Python is funny. 7. Her hair is thinning and she thinks I might be bothered by that. 8. She takes some very Dr. Laura views on parenting, even though she doesn’t have, and never intends to have, her own children. 9. She puts arare in her popcorn. Hope you all find this useful. ---

My mother doesn’t believe in atoms, and has no competeing theories. I love her to death, but that’s kooky. And Rilch, your husband believes some pretty kooky shit. Whether that makes him a kook or not is left as an exercise to the reader. ---

To be totally honest, when I first read the MPSIMS thread in question, I thought that he made the Art Bell call as a prank. It never occurred to me that he was serious. From Merraim Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, 10th edition: \*kook: n. one whose ideas or actions are eccentric, fantastic, or insane. \* Notice the use of “or” here. It’s not so far of a stretch to say that Mr. R’s ideas are eccentric. You must admit that an argument can be made. It’s not like he called him an asshole or an idiot, that would be out of line. Based on what you yourself said in the thread, killer marinade notwithstanding, the man is a kook. On a forum dedicated to fighting ignorance, you got exactly the reception that you should well have expected IMO. You can’t really be that naive. There’s no fucking way we should be expected to let something like that go. Maybe **obfusciatrist** should have said “kooky idea” instead of “kook” but that’s splitting hairs. “Grey’s allowing 9/11 to happen.” Give me a fucking break. It’s preposterous. It’s true enough that organized religions have equally silly ideas. I don’t believe them either. The whole thing is highly insulting to the families of the victims. Haj ---

You are the one who posted his theory/beliefs, by doing that _you_ opened him up to ridicule and snide comments. If one is not allowed to make a comment, snide or otherwise, about someone’s beliefs just because they aren’t a member of this community, then you shouldn’t be allowed to post said beliefs. Just because one posts about someone off the board does not make them sacrosanct. ---

Nothing worse than sitting there in the dark, reaching for a handful, and getting a mouthful of arare. Also, here on the mainland, theaters aren’t so civilized about providing a means of distributing popcorn among a group. ---

Does she put furikake on popcorn? 'Cause that’s pretty good, too. And as for distributing the stuff, well, you can do what my mom does: steal one of the cardboard trays, line it with napkins to soak up the oil, and pour the popcorn into that. You can then garnish the popcorn as you desire. ---

Yes, but they don’t have those cardboard trays at mainland theaters, just cupholder trays and those don’t hold much popcorn. And yes, she puts furikake on popcorn (only certain kinds, though, the seafood flavors would probably be too weird, even for her). She did it just the other day. And this is at mainland theaters so people look at us weird and I also don’t get any popcorn. ---
