I went to Frostburg State University in Western MD. It was a intro class so I can understand a broad type class, but for me it was way too much Marx/Engles. The book we used wasn’t a Econ book it was some book about Econonomic figures such as Marx and Engles and I think Adam Smith with a few others thrown in. most of it was lectures.
I don’t remember much about it anymore as it was 6 yers ago, but we didn’t cover much if any on how stocks work etc or anything that I thought would be important for a basic class.
No kidding! My uncle used to teach there (not in the economics department).
I never met any of the economists there, but judging by the faculty I met at a couple of parties I would say you had about a 30% chance of sitting through an intro class taught by a total idiot.
actually I was kidding! I went to school there from 91-95, what did your Uncle teach, I might of had him. and I’d agree that most of the intro classes were worthless. most of the better classes I had were in the Geography department, of which I graduated, the Math and a couple of the physics teachers were ok.
