Not to say anything against cellphones – the staff of life, and all that – but has anyone noticed that cellphones have, in and of themselves, the power to make annoying people even more annoying? I’m talking about people of every stripe of annoying. The cellphone acts like some weird magnifier of their annoyingness. Moreover, the cellphone seems to me unique among man-made objects in this respect. Can anybody think of anything that has an effect even remotely similar to this one?
Blackberry = Cellphone x 10.
Even normally reasonable and intelligent people immediately become glassy-eyed drones whenever their Blackberry goes off.
Congrats, you got email… now could you maybe wait until I finish my sentence before checking it? I promise, it’s not going to magically disappear if you wait 30 seconds. In fact, there’s a damn good chance it’ll even be there in 30 minutes. Honest.
There’s a reason they call them Crackberries…
Cars.
Or to expound. . .I’m going to buy a huge one, point the headlights directly into your cabin, drive so close behind you that there’s no way I could stop in time if I had to, or drive in front of you so that your vision of the road ahead of us is completely blocked. Or, I’m going to alter the stereo and exhaust so that I disturb everyone within a 100 meter radius of myself.
A car can really let an annoying person take it to the next level.
I haven’t noticed I think cell phones …
Sorry had an e-mail come in as I was…
Ok that was work I had to grab it, now like I was saying, the cell phone is one…

You know what I gota answer this I’ll post later
As poster Eve says to cell phone users when they ignore her request to talk quieter:
Well, if you can’t be less quiet, could you at least be more interesting?
Recently I was in Las Vegas and shortly after getting on one of the casino shuttles someone in the seat in front of me got a call on his cell phone. He was talking so loud the entire bus could hear him…several people were commenting on it, including one lady who said something about it being a shame that we all had to listen to him conducting business while we were on vacation. When I finally suggested that maybe he didn’t have to talk so loud his (I presume) wife turned around and glared at me, then said, “He has to talk loud, he’s talking to someone in California and they’re having trouble hearing him.” :rolleyes:
Does chewing gum count?
(I guess it’s man-made, even if the raw material comes from trees…)
