As I already summarised - they got nothin’.

It’s that sort of bullshit nonsense that gives philosophy a bad name.

if you read the Greek and Roman natural philosophers, the atomists for example, this is the kind of argument that got made. The ones who were correct were more lucky than right. Science abandoned this approach for data collection, experiment, and hypothesis building and testing. Religion, not so much.
You can’t really blame those who came up with the argument - you can blame those who are still using in in the 21st century.

Hi Kable.

Here’s your problem … you are looking at these “Rules” like they are written in stone … like Ten Commandments. Don’t think of them that way. Think of the Moderators as Supreme Court Judges. They can interpret this stuff pretty much anyway they want. Look, it’s their Message Board, so rather than get banned, or spanked or whatever, why not just post regarding the topics and respect that it is a private board, it’s their game and they can make (and interpret) the rules? It’s not a matter of right and wrong. Discussing religion and Scripture is a lot more interesting than discussing who’s right about a “rule”.

Keep in mind that while you and I may have our personal opinion about what constitutes the teachings of Jesus and who’s following them , it’s only an opinion.

for example , I doubt if Jesus meant literally go to “all the world” expecting his audience to travel the whole world. Also, who was he talking to? The apostles , or just average followers in general? Do you think the same is expected of everyone?
Personally I think the most effective witness is the way someone lives and how they interact with others.

I suppose that’s true in a way seeing is how nobody even knows if Jesus said the things attributed him to the Bible. However there is nothing recorded from him anywhere else, so when someone tells me they follow the teachings of Jesus I naturally assume they are following what he taught as per the gospels.

Why? You think Jesus was only interested in saving local souls? I know at first he said he was only there for the Jews, but I think he broadened his scope with regards to salvation later on.

I’d say everyone. One could argue that his general sayings were largely personal to the people he was speaking directly, but if you subtract out all that there isn’t much left. I’ve seen Christians use that excuse before and if they applied it consistently they might have a point, but I have yet to see a single one do so.

Really? Mormon’s are really nice people. Does that compel you to believe in Moroni, Jews in submarines, and the golden plates?
