It occurred to me after reading this [Why does water make the Wicked Witch of the West melt? - The Straight Dope](https://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1984/why-does-water-make-the-wicked-witch-of-the-west-melt/) that David Dunn in _Unbreakable_ has the same weakness as the Wicked Witch of the West.

I’m possibly being whooshed, but it’s “Lazar.”

Still a badass name, though.

Lady GaGa’s been getting away with swearing on the radio for years now. I just learnt that the lyrics are:

“Pa pa pa poker face
Pa pa fuck her face”

So has Britney Spears, if you count spelling out swear words

“All of the boys and all of the girls
Are begging to **if you seek Amy** ”

I looked it up again and it seems the only source is a fan wiki, so I guess I can’t confirm it’s true.

Still, listen to the song again. It definitely sounds like it.

This is the video where she “confirms it”. The way she says it makes me think it’s a joke, though. Seems a little too deadpan, if that makes sense. Possibly just making fun of the radio station for censoring it needlessly. But that could just be how she talks normally (I don’t follow her closely enough to know for sure).

I have to admit it does, more than a little!

(This doesn’t fit the strict definition of this thread at all, but the, neither do 99% of the things posted here, so…)

30+ years ago, when I was a preteen, I saw an ad for a movie about John Belushi with the tagline (something like) “For John Belushi, every night was Saturday night”. And I remember not understanding what that meant, but for some reason it stuck in my head, and then a few years later, when I understood how adults work during the week but then go out partying on the weekend, with Saturday Night presumably being Maximum Party Night, it suddenly clicked that that’s what it was getting at.

And then today, decades later, that whole thing popped into my head again, and the other shoe suddenly dropped. John Belushi’s fame came from being on _SATURDAY NIGHT Live_.
It’s actually quite a clever tagline, now that I think about it. Maybe there’s yet another meaning that I’ll suddenly realize when I’m in my 70s.

Taglines, as you admit, are a creative work and… gotta tell you… that one _is_ pretty f-in obvious, so it fits! 😃

There’s even a passing physical resemblance. All she needs now is breast cancer, and that will be truly freaky.

I think it was also alluding to the fact that Belushi was facing the pressures of being a celebrity. Even when he wasn’t actually performing on the show, he was always famous because of Saturday Night Live. The show was always a presence in his life so “every night was Saturday Night”.

While typing the title of Billy Joel’s A New York State of Mind, I just realized it could be interpreted two different ways:

A New York
State of Mind
referencing NY City

OR

A New York State
of mind
referring New York State

Does state go with New York or Of Mind?

Or, a new York state of mind. Someone never thought about York (North Yorkshire, England), but now does.

As you observe, Billy Joel is pretty New York City. I can’t imagine that he was thinking of Rochester or Buffalo or Schenectady when he wrote this. But there is arguably a bit of wordplay in “New York State” and “State of Mind”.

Nowhere near a million times, but I’ve gotten about 2 dozen runs in on Monster Prom, and it only just occurred to me that Miranda the mermaid princess’s obsession with silverware is a reference to Ariel’s dinglehopper from The Little Mermaid. (Miranda being partially a parody of Ariel, herself, is pretty obvious, but that part didn’t click. It really should have since Miranda doesn’t eat, and thus the silverware obsession is otherwise completely nonsensical, even by the standards of a game where you can romance an eldritch abomination weeaboo.)
