For musicals with actual rape scenes, you’ve got _Man of La Mancha_ (although fortunately the actual rape occurs offstage). It’s quite dark for a musical, all things considered.

And Sweeney Todd. Which may or may not occur off-stage depending on how it’s staged. Speaking of dark…

I was asked to play guitar for _MolM_ at my old high school and they had the rape scene right up front.

And nobody made an unscheduled appearance saying, “What’s all this, then?”

The Egg mc Muffin came out 4 years later than the film, I wonder if they go the idea from that?

Add to that, an egg with Canadian bacon on an English muffin was not invented by McDonald’s.
It’s Eggs Benedict with a fully cooked egg and cheese instead of Hollandaise sauce so it can be eaten “on the go”.

I suppose that’s true, but those changes (especially omitting the Hollandaise sauce) make it pretty far removed from anything I would consider to be “Eggs Benedict.”

But the real innovation was the egg mold for the grill and the procedure that was developed so that a McDonald’s employee could crank them out on a grill like hamburgers. (I made thousands of them while working there as a teenager.)

Somehow I read 1968 for the film. My error.

So, it is not Eggs benedict, it just has two of the same ingredients.

Actually three: English muffin, egg, and Canadian bacon.

But the egg is hard-cooked and it doesn’t have Hollandaise sauce, which is the defining characteristic of Eggs Benedict.

Good points, I was not thinking of the muffin as an ingredient.

Before a trip I sometimes make “International sandwiches” for us- they can be eaten in the car, etc- English Muffin, Canadian Bacon and American Cheese (real American cheese, mind you).

Personally, if i have to get a breakfast sandwich at McDs it is the sausage biscuit with cheese.

The local McDs is so bad, most locals avoid it. I will only eat the fries or “hash browns” from there. But we have a plethora of fast food here.

I recall hearing somewhere (I think from the Tasting History Youtube channel) that the original idea was that the Egg McMuffin would have Hollandaise sauce. They wanted to send powdered Hollandaise to the restaurants where it would then be reconstituted. But upon testing the idea they figured out that the reconstituted Hollandaise sauce wasn’t very good, and Peterson hit on the idea of replacing it with a slice of cheese.

That is hilarious, and a bit sobering.

I seem to remember some bit of historical trivia that Vikings were very well dressed and smelled nice, so some women had kind of idealized them and it wasn’t very hard for them to get around, consensually. I’m not sure if that’s true.

“It is reported in the chronicle attributed to John of Wallingford that the Danes, thanks to their habit of combing their hair every day, of bathing every Saturday and regularly changing their clothes, were able to undermine the virtue of married women and even seduce the daughters of nobles to be their mistresses.”
