Obvious things about a creative work you realize after the millionth time (OPEN SPOILERS POSSIBLE)

Be quiet. Any mention of that will bring out the true believers.

Doesn’t entirely fit, but it’s close enough.

The game Final Fantasy XII borrows heavily from Star Wars*…this isn’t what I realized…I noticed it on my first playthru, as soon as [del]Darth Vader[/del]Judge Gabranth entered.

No, a little while ago, I got the urge to listen to the Star Wars theme on YouTube.

FFXII even carried the Star Wars theme through the format of the overture.

  • Young man yearning for adventure hooks up with a charming rogue and his non-human co-pilot, they rescue a princess who’s leading a rebellion against the racist evil empire (whose main general is in face-covering armour and has a familial connection to one of the heroes), using mystical abilities that were thought lost.

I never played XII, but looking at YouTube, you’re right!

I had to go round and round as a kid, because it sounds like they say “He eats everything”, but then it doesn’t make sense that he likes it.

“He won’t eat it, he eats everything.”

Agreed.

This is entirely folk etymology, but years ago I came to the conclusion that the piggys rhyme is an anti-gluttony fable. It tells in alternate lines the fate of two pigs.

The first pig ate a lot
The second pig didn’t
The first pig was taken to market
The second pig wasn’t
The first pig screamed as he was slaughtered.

Which would you rather be, my child?

I have mentioned this theory before.

Watching*** Frasier***, it just occurred to me that “Daphne Moon” sounds an awful lot like “Daffy Loon.”

Sailor Moon’s name is Usagi Tsukino, Tsukino can be translated as moon. Wonder if they’re related.

Back when I was a kid (and Chad was still in the trio), my sister had several of their records - including the one with that song. It wasn’t until several years later, when I came across the Milne poem, that I realised the words weren’t really

King John put up a notice
Lost, stolen or slain.
James James Morrison’s mother
She seems to have been mislain.

Zero became a star at the end of Nightmare Before Christmas because Jack and Sally became a couple and Jack didn’t need Zero to be his only friend anymore.

Because the cow went to market last week.

:stuck_out_tongue:

But seriously, I never heard of feeding pigs roast beef to fatten them up.

No… THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE!!! NOooooooooooooooooooooooo!

That they’re here to **PUMP!

YOU UP!**?

not the steak, the rest of the cow…

The infected cow’s brain was presumably ground up and fed to chickens and pigs

Yes, in “All Quite on the Western Front”.

No, not exactly, but when I watched “All Quite”, it was like watching a homage to every modern movie that has that scene.

I’m trying to imagine what the movie “All Quite on the Western Front” would be like.

Like “All Quiet on the Western Front”, but noisier.

Everyone would definitely be on the Western Front, no ifs, ands or buts.

I am, just this moment, watching the first series of Red Dwarf.

In the first episode, after Lister was let out of stasis, he ate bits of the piles of dust that were the remains of the crew… Which was a funny gag, but…

Did Lister make a habit of eating random piles of dirt just lying around in the ship?

I mean, I know he’s a slob and all, but…that’s a bit beyond, y’know.

There are FIVE piggies. And tickling at the end.

He was trying to figure out what they were, and he’s fine with tasting as one method. He wasn’t eating them for sustenance. It was like seeing a bowl of fine white crystals and checking to see if it’s sugar or salt.
