Obvious things about a creative work you realize after the millionth time (OPEN SPOILERS POSSIBLE)

Well he sure didn’t want them to use “Don’t Pay the Ferry Man” by Christopher Cross.

This one is embarrassing.

I saw a UPS truck the other day and I noticed it had the company phone number painted on it; 1-800-pick ups.

I’ve seen this before and for some reason, I’ve always thought “They wanted that number so you’d think of them when you have a package to be picked up.”

But this time, I finally figured out that “pick ups” meant they wanted you to choose UPS.

That was Chris de Burgh

I’m watching Young Frankenstein. After Igor has stolen the brain and Dr. Frankenstein is ready to bring his creature to life, he’s wearing surgical gloves with a thimble on one his fingers. Presumably that was from stitching the skin together after putting the brain in.

Good catch! I’ve seen it a million times (as dictated by the thread title), and never noticed that.

Great. Now I have to fly like the wind.

And you got such a long way to go.

Eh, you can just go sailing. It’s the best that you can do.

:person_beard:t2::musical_notes: SUCH A LONG WAY TO GOOOO :musical_notes::person_beard:t2:

Thanks! I think I’ve posted that too many times in the past year; glad someone recovered the ball. :+1:

That’s Rick Moranis, right?

Yeah, if only! “Someday…you’re gonna buy it!” The song, that the funeral director wrote himself, was so inappropriate Andy finally turned down the contract.

Indeed!

(In fairness, it should be noted that the real Michael McDonald also sang the “ba-da-da”s during the bridge.)

I just realized today that The Nanny is essentially a modern twist on The Sound of Music, complete with C.C. Babcock in the “Baroness” role.

I struggle to picture Nanny Fine singing…

There were in fact plans for a Broadway adaptation by Rachel Bloom (of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” fame), though it seems to have stalled following the death of her songwriting partner Adam Schlesinger.

Funny note on The Nanny, Daniel Davis who played the British butler Niles was faking his accent. He’s actually from Arkansas.

Please; it is called “acting”!

Are you trying to tell me that not only was he faking being British, he wasn’t even a hologram?

Well, yes, but Fran Drescher, Charles Shaughnessy, Lauren Lane, Nicholle Tom, Benjamin Salisbury, and Madeline ZIma were also acting. Saying a person you see on a tv show is acting isn’t really a surprise.

Yes, but “faking” implies the intent to deceive. It was an interesting tidbit, though. The only two roles I know him from are Niles and Professor Moriarty on Star Trek, both of whom use Received Pronunciation, which Davis did quite well.
