> When did economically-ignorant Progressive fairy tales ever go away?

Actually their program is backed by rock-hard research. The carried interest loophole is exactly that - a loophole. There’s no reason why a subset of financiers should have lower tax rates than, say, CEOs of technology firms. The [Tobin tax](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tobin_tax) was designed by a Nobel Laurette economist and has [widespread though certainly not unanimous backing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reaction_to_the_Tobin_Tax). Postal banks are enjoyed in many OECD countries - to characterize this as a fairy tale is just pure ignorance.

Sorry, but the unicorns and sparkleponies are all on the Republican side now. No magic wall is going to keep out all 'dem furrners and Mexico isn’t going to pay for it. Our new friend **Giraffes Can’t Dance** provides a pretty good presentation of the modern conservative mentality: he sincerely believes that if he asserts something, it must be true: they can’t wrap their minds around the substantiation concept.

Given that you are not prepared to do your own work, you can hardly expect to be taken seriously when you criticize other people for not doing your work for you.

These are _your_ claims, Giraffe. If you want us to believe them, you need to offer us _some_ shred of a reason for doing so. Think about it logically; if we have no reason to believe your claims, why would we believe them?

Denouncing us as “leftists” when we point this out just gives the impression that you don’t know what the word “leftist” means, which is probably not the impression that you’re trying to create.

Just conspiracy filled sites and not much evidence,\*\* now those are lazy efforts\*\*. in any case it is clear that you do not read cites, the Reuters one only showed that Soros is not directly involved, but one can say that there is support from the groups he funds but it is really silly to put all the money an organization has as coming from Soros alone.

BTW I already reported that much to the chagrin of many conservatives there are is a lot of rich people that do recognize that what it is really unamerican is to try to act like if movements should be pure and die just because they are not funded, what I see here is just a variation of the Serengeti strategy, demonize a few people that is involved in making a fairer society so as to deny that there is **a lot more than just one** that is aware that the American experiment will fail when opportunity is denied to many of their citizens.

Lets remember that he was replying to the poster that told us that “Leftists hate things like facts, science and math.” As seen already cites were provided that showed the opposite and were deftly avoided by the poster.

Of course seeing the sources he is using only demonstrated that he is not capable of identifying bad sources of information, with misleading information that it is only geared to divide people, and the intention of the people misinforming others is to “help some powerful people to get rid of meddlesome priests” as a king said once.

>
> Why does the right hate Soros?
>
> Several months ago, the California Highway Patrol diverted a wacko fan of right-wing websites and Glenn Beck’s Fox News show from opening fire on our offices. After a 15-minute shootout, he was taken into custody and is now awaiting trial.
>
> Among the many lies and misrepresentations repeated by the sites and shows that the gunman, Byron Williams, watched and listened to was the bizarre idea that George Soros “owns” the Tides organizations — through which he is allegedly pursuing a nefarious agenda to destroy America.
>
> As a public charity, Tides is not owned by Soros, nor was it started by him. Soros is the founder and chairman of the Open Society Institute. It is just one of hundreds of funders that partner with Tides in programs to promote economic justice, democratic processes and human rights.
>
> The Open Society funds are only a small percentage of Tides’ total contributions — far less than 5 percent of our $112 million total in 2009.
>
> Amid the cacophony of screed, I didn’t focus on these lies about Soros. It has been bad enough to try to wrap my mind around how Beck and others were repeatedly labeling us “communists” and “socialists” and “anti-American” — on a channel that describes itself as “fair.”
>
> Tides may be progressive, but we are enthusiastically American. Were it not for the capitalist system, not a dollar would flow through Tides. Families, foundations, corporations and collaborative groups use our services to make charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations that they recommend for grants.

> [@](#):
>
> His interest in contributing to politics can’t quite explain it either. There are hundreds of Americans who give in similar or greater amounts to candidates and one or another of the parties. Warren Buffett and the “Google boys” fly in private planes. Bill Gates has created a bigger philanthropy. Vinod Khosla is both an immigrant and, like Soros, an enormously successful capitalist. Oprah Winfrey has built a media empire and is openly supportive of President Barack Obama. So, what is it about Soros?
>
> I don’t know. It might be that he speaks with a pronounced Hungarian accent. Perhaps it’s because he’s proven himself smarter than most lions of Wall Street. For example, he foresaw the housing bubble and, unlike almost everyone else in the financial industry who denigrated his concerns, positioned his investments correctly in anticipation of the debacle.
>
> Or maybe it’s because he is passionate about human rights and the plight of immigrants. His Open Society Foundations, for example, focus on the Roma people — marginalized immigrants throughout central Europe, and they have a long commitment to the people of Burma, where a military regime has attacked human rights for many years.

> [@](#):
>
> But I’m scared for Soros. He is lambasted by the likes of Beck more than anyone. As the would-be “assassin” recently indicated, Beck says he doesn’t advocate violence — but Williams is probably not the only unbalanced soul out there who wants to “start the revolution” with an act of violence.
>
> All of us, including Beck, need to take more responsibility for how we speak of others. Especially about those with whom we disagree.
>
> Otherwise, when bad things happen, we share the responsibility.

Even Snopes agrees with I told you before, not all the money is coming from Soros, and he is not funding those protests.

> **[Did George Soros Fund Ferguson Protests and Black Lives Matter?](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/riot-act/)**
>
> Rumor claims billionaire George Soros donated $33 million to fund rioting Ferguson protest groups.

> [@](#):
>
> It is false that George Soros gave money to various groups for the express purpose of promoting Ferguson-related protests and riots.
>
> …
>
> But taking that information and converting it into the assertion Soros himself funded Ferguson-related protests and riots is problematic for a number of reasons. Although George Soros is the founder and chairman of OSF, he quite obviously does not personally oversee and approve every single grant made by the OSF network to the multitude of
> organizations and programs that the network helps to fund. As well, the $33 million figure includes just about every organization with any connection to Ferguson-related activism that received monies from the OSF network, even if their involvement was tangential (such as publishing, writing, or promoting hashtags about the issue). And that such groups may have received part of their funding from the OSF network doesn’t mean those funds were given for the specific purpose of organizing Ferguson-related protests, or with the knowledge or intent they would be used thusly.
>
> As Kenneth Zimmerman, director of OSF’s U.S. Programs observed, some of the groups involved have been receiving OSF funding since long before the Ferguson shooting was a political issue, and the OSF itself did not promote or direct Ferguson-related protests:
> Mr. Zimmerman said OSF has been giving to these types of groups since its inception in the early ‘90s, and that, although groups involved in the protests have been recipients of Mr. Soros’ grants, they were in no way directed to protest at the behest of Open Society.
>
> “The incidents, whether in Staten Island, Cleveland or Ferguson, were spontaneous protests — we don’t have the ability to control or dictate what others say or choose to say,” Mr. Zimmerman said. “But these circumstances focused people’s attention — and it became increasingly evident to the social justice groups involved that what a particular incident like Ferguson represents is a lack of accountability and a lack of democratic participation.”

A couple of quick points, because this has gotten comical rather quickly:

• So you can use your leftist sources to refute? That’s fair game? This is the kind of partisan thinking that has turned many Americans off to politics. It also highlights the dishonesty being expressed by media outlets on both sides. I mean, have you viewed Brietbart’s drooling over Trump?

• I’ll apologize for how aggressively I pushed my point. Such efforts were not my intent from the onset of this discussion. I’ve simply grown tired of all the partisan nonsense. Stark denial of George Soros’ puppetry as it relates to leftist “movements” is purely partisan. Leftists love to highlight the financial endeavors of the Koch brothers, why refuting their own wealthy financier.

• I saw that Donald Trump was mentioned a few times. If I was guilty of aggressively pushing my point, you were guilt of trying to slander me by associating me with such an ignoramus.

I am an independent, almost libertarian, who is secular is his beliefs. I am as disgusted by leftists, as I am the religious right. I despise Donald Trump, as much as I despise Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
