Occupy Wall Street is back, kindasorta

See what I mean? You ask for facts, I provide them, you deny.

This is why you can’t debate a leftist.

Heh. That’s pretty much what I expected.

No, you provided assertions. And insults.

From my direct (but anecdotal) experience, this is actually pretty true* – but so what? Are you suggesting that upper-middle class liberals aren’t allowed to support a movement that they hope will bring about greater economic equality? Are you saying they wouldn’t be willing to sacrifice some of the structural advantages they’ve enjoyed – perhaps even a reduced personal income?

True, few such folks would be willing to trade places with a homeless person. So there is a tiny whiff of hypocrisy, perhaps. But that’s just human nature.

What I’m saying is, there’s a big difference between corporate-sponsored astroturf (with deceitful intent) and boho-suburban-boomer–and-academia-supported protest movements. The latter may be sometimes naive or ineffectual, but at least it’s sincere.

Otherwise, you’re suggesting that any change to help the poor or could-easily-become-poor must come from the poor themselves – the very ones with the fewest resources. I’m not saying they’re incapable of agency, but they can’t do it themselves.

*“class warfare” is a bit strongly worded, though

It does not work that way, the facts are that the Republicans and conservatives do not care that the leader they choose is an ignorant that does refuse to consult science and the facts. And the links I provided do show why Trump is the anti-science candidate.

The evidence here is clear, you are not willing to look at how wrong you are. So I will give you one chance to see if you can differentiate about who is denying science or not:

From a Trump rally:

Woman’s question: “I’m a volunteer with a leading conservation voters group and we want to know about what your plan is to reduce pollution that is driving climate change and endangering public health.”

Trump: “That’s an interesting question. Let me ask you a question… Ok, so we have global, let me ask you this, ok to [hissing and some boos from the crowd] take it easy… How many people, how many people here believe in global warming? [Turns around looks for hands up] You believe in global warming?
Who believes in global warming?
Who believes in global warming?
Raise your hand, nobody? *
One person…”

  • This is worse than ignorance, it is malpractice. Even professional “skeptics” tell us that global warming is happening but is natural, so the answer should had been yes, but not even that :smack: Trump is on the record of misleading his followers.

What fake skeptics deny is the climate change that that warming brings and that it is human caused.

And Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders accept the science and the efforts to control emissions; so, do you deny this?

…and the grown ups who have the “privilege” of having to save for retirement care more about the health of their 401K’s.

Oh yeah, about what Trump does with 401Ks:

Grown ups should not vote Republican.

Cite?

Harry! How ya doin’?

That’s not how it works in this forum. You make the assertion, you bring the cite.

“Facts” are not enough, you have to provide cites, some form of proof on the public record.

It is as if I saw the future!

Yeah. No fair having to produce evidence to support your claims.

Giraffe, what you’re looking for is a discourse in which you say something, and then people accept it as factual because you have said it.

“Debate” isn’t really the word for that kind of discourse. And the word for people who won’t take the passive role in that discourse isn’t “leftist”; it’s “adult”.

That’s funny, so did I; I predicted that you would ignore the cites that do show Trump misleading the American people regarding a scientific and economical issue as it is the issue of climate change.

You are not fooling anyone, it is your problem if you are only telling others that you are not able to reply to that evidence.

We have this wonderful invention called the computer. It would take merely a few minutes to research. The problem with you leftists is that you hate work.

Another insane leftist (excuse the repetition).

I did notice your posts on Donald Trump. Donald Trump has nothing to do with this topic.

I was not talking about Donald specifically, that was a reply to your accusation that leftists are disregarding science, as mentioned before, you are not even wrong.

So, once again, do you deny the evidence that shows that currently the Republicans and conservatives are ignoring science in congress and at the presidential level?

When did economically-ignorant Progressive fairy tales ever go away?

I do not think it is fairy tale to get enough funds from the powerful banks or big institutions to deal with the next big economical disaster brought by the same powerful banks or big institutions. The fairy tale IMHO is to think that the same guys are not going to make a mess of things in the future.

Actually it took some effort to make the transcript of the quotes in post #25, yes, the same one that you ignored that showed the levels the conservatives and Republicans are going to deny science.
