I’m an adult student changing careers and planning to attend grad school in fall 2007. If I want to work in the field of OCD/OCPD with clients (and maybe do some research,) is a master’s in social work (eventually leading to an LCSW) or a PsyD more appropriate? (My undergrad work and so forth, btw, is a good match to go directly into a MSW program-- however, I honestly think I would need a master’s level degree in psych before really qualifying for a PsyD program. Nevertheless, understand that I am not afraid of spending the rest of my life in school…) All advice very much appreciated! 🙂

For research PHd is the only way to go. If your simply going to practice therapy then the masters is sufficient.
