# Odd bottle sizes ... reasons/origins?

I’ve got a bottle of Okinawan beer here–it’s 1pt. 5.4 fl. oz. (633mL). Where the heck did that size come from? Is it based on some standard Japanese bottle size/volume measure? Is it sized to comply with some country/region’s liquor volume import laws?
