I’ve been seeing ads for [Igloo products with special edition Slayer graphics on them](https://www.igloocoolers.com/collections/slayer). If you’re not familiar with Slayer, they are a legendary thrash metal band from the 80s. What they have to do with Igloo coolers I have no idea. I’m sure it’s related to the cooler/boombox, but it’s still kind of an odd pairing. Seen any other endorsed or licensed products that strike you as strange? ---

I don’t know why they didn’t change those products to _Reign in Ice_! They have other bands like Iron Maiden, Run DMC and Green Day, but also other oddities like Care Bears and Jeep. I think the Igloo marketing team makes bets on products they can create that you think won’t sell, but do sell (one of the Slayer products is sold out). ---

I’ve seen Jeep Bicycles, which kinda breaks my mind. Of course KISS (Well, Gene, I guess) sticks their name on _everything_. Even caskets. ---

The GTI though has always been a very different animal than the regular Golfs. But it reminded me that VW had another Golf (Cabrio, not GTI) campaign with cool music, Nick Drake’s “Pink Moon”.
