Oddly, _The Game of Life_ has never had a rule that says your spouse had to be of the opposite gender, even in the early editions. Milton-Bradley: destroying family values since 1960. ---

Good. We always ask for whatever colour spouse peg we want. So far it’s gone heterosexual marriage but we are keeping an open mind in our house. That being said I am not a fan of this game. Someone forgets about the “speeding tickets” or there is a misunderstanding on the Spin To Win and it ends in tears. Sometimes from me. Bring on Payday, I like buying the weird businesses. ---

When I was a kid (in the early '80s), we often picked same-sex pegs as spouses in the Game of Life. Mild sniggering usually ensued. ---

The Game of Life has to be one of the most existential board games out there. I remember being little and staring at the Retirement Home square at the end of the pathway, and asking my mother, “But Mom, no matter how much money you make or children you get, doesn’t everybody end up in the same place?” ---
