They say the wings and feet on the penis add to its protective powers. That may be true, but I suspect they have a negative effect on its procreative powers. ---

This was also fairly common in the medieval Netherlands, apparently - [these](http://www.billyandcharlie.com/carn.html) are all, AFAIK, based on medieval finds. I can certainly vouch for the flying penis and the penis tree, I’ve seen originals in museums. ---

It used to be, when I pictured ancient Rome, that I saw men in togas or centurions all decked out, strutting around and making history. After doing more reading (and watching HBO’s _Rome_, I must admit), I now picture Rome as absolutely covered in penises. And graffiti about where to find a good whorehouse. But mostly penises. An endless parade: dick after johnson after schlong after bunnywhacker. Penis, penis, penis. ---
