I was walking through town yesterday and I heard the oddest noise behind me. _rumble_ \*\*clonk \*\*\*rumble \*\*\*clonk \*\*_rumble_. I turned around and there was a guy in a full leg cast, on a tiny kid-sized skateboard, poling himself along with a crutch. ---

Actually that can make sense, it moves you along faster than gimping or hopping along, and is a lot easier on the uninjured leg as long as you have good balance. ---

Near my home, I have seen both a juggling jogger (joggler?) and a guy out for a ride on a unicycle. The unicycle guy was taking a hill that rises 550 feet in under 1.5 miles. I have no idea if they were the same person and I haven’t seen either one again. ---

This was more heard that seen and more stupid than odd, but I was in a second-hand store today. I didn’t see what it was this guy was selling but the storeowner offered him fifty dollars in cash or seventy dollars in store credit. The guy said he wanted the cash. He then used the fifty dollars to put a downpayment on a $120 laptop that was in the store. ---

Leaving the local English Pub for lunch today, I saw a guy walking down the sidewalk in slacks, a long sleeve blue shirt, a black tie, and a white hat. Oh…and he was pulling a vacuum cleaner behind him. I wasn’t drinking at lunch. They make a really great roast beef sandwich on Monday’s. It’s left over from the Sunday Roast. -D/A ---

This was a couple of months ago, but I saw a blind guy with a long white cane riding a Segway. It wasn’t a joke - the guy had perfect touch tap technique. ---

A student of mine brought in a deer’s foot today from a hunting trip in Mexico over Thanksgiving. It still had dried blood on it and a tendon poking out. I took it from him and put it in a plastic zipper bag and took it to the office. He got it back from my assistant principal about ten minutes later. ---

What struck me as odd was that I spent a couple of months in a half cast this year and I \*know \*how badly it affected my balance and stability. Never seen that before for a reason, IMO. ---

I was walking on one of the hiking trails over by Mission Ranch.There’s a small stream that runs beside the trail. There are multiple small “tunnels” that run through the brush/vines bordering the stream that the animals use to get to the water. As my dog and I walked by one, she stopped and was very interested in something far inside one of the tunnels. I crouched down to look and there sat a lone hiking boot, brand new and soaked with water, with an unopened sleeve of Ritz crackers tucked down inside. After studying it for a moment, I drug the boot back out onto the trail in plain sight in case it’s owner came searching and I opened the package of Ritz crackers and sprinkled them into the tunnel for the animals. I could just see a raccoon or some such critter dragging that boot up into the tunnel, intending to eat the crackers before being scared away. ---

There’s an artist’s workshop/co-op in Boston; all sorts of welding and woodworking tools, that sort of thing. I was taking an electronics course there on Monday nights. There was this thing that someone had built. It was about three feet wide and eight feet tall, and on the front of it were thousands (probably tens of thousands) of LEDs. You know those huge video screens in stadiums that you’re meant to watch from 200 feet away? It looked like a small piece of one of those. The other night, it was on. I don’t know what he was using to drive the image, but imagine taking a couple square centimeters of a TV picture blowing it up to the size of a person. It was actually pretty cool. ---

When I came back the next day, it was gone. ---

Stayed in there for about 15 minutes, and left just in time to get down to the classroom where the final was being held. We all were very curious as what was going on. Was it last minute studying or something else?
