# Of culture shock/clothing/modesty: Your limits?

I think of this as the cure for fashion-industry-induced fellings of inadequacy. Once you’re in an all-nude environment and you see how blobby people really are, you stop worrying about it.

Or go to the gym. 🙂

There is that. I’ve also developed sort of a beer paunch over the last two years and no longer think _I_ look good nekkid.

I hate fashion, I hate having to think about what to wear. I would be thrilled if everybody was issued three sets of identical winter clothes and three sets of identical summer clothes and we left it at that.

As far as modesty goes, I hate wearing bulky clothes. Luckily we only have about 5 chilly months here where I have to wear pants down to my ankles and shirts past my elbows (I can barely stand being covered down to my wrists, thank god for the 3/4 length sleeve). When it warms up and I can revert to t-shirts and shorts I feel a sort of “Ahhhh, I’m me again” feeling

I’ve spent a few weekends at nudists camps and while I don’t particularly mind it, I’d rather wear a bra for support and panties to protect what a previous poster delightfully called the “delicate pink bits”.

I think I’d be pretty fine dialing my modesty down for local custom but I think I’d have a hard time adjusting to a culture with stricter standards. I just don’t have what it takes to be all buttoned-up. I’d always be the girl with hair escaping her headscarf or inadvertently flashing some ankle because my socks were slipping.
