> Yay **VunderBob** Not to bring down the mood of the thread, but if anyone has any good vibes left (it’s been a rough couple o’ months for the MMPers) I sure couple use some sent my Dad’s way. Don’t know if I’ve mentioned it here or not, but he has leukemia and some sort of tumor on one of his kidneys. He’s probably going to be alright, but he most recent round of chemo hit him pretty hard, and I have to fly back to Connecticut this weekend to help him out. I’ll probably fly back on Tuesday with (hopefully) good updates, so have a good weekend everybody.

Good vibes headed for lightingdad. Oh, and since I am more geriatric than **swampy** , he has to cut me some slack.

Wouldn’t that be sumpin? Fraid Kenny Rogers is more in their league.

Hey! I was just thinking of the B-52s, mainly that they’re much under appreciated. Planet Claire is a thing of beauty.

Also, give your dad a hug for me **lightingtool**. Chemo ain’t for sissies.

Finally, I’m going shopping in San Diego tomorrow. I’m gonna buy clothes and boots and undies and likker and a christmas tree and candy and shampoo and perfume and glasses and candles and a jacket and eyeliner and gift certificates and a toaster and a vacuum and a calender and slippers and pillows and soap and what else should I buy?

Glitter; it clings, it clings! It gets in places like my nose, I find it forty million years later. Glitter is proof of the debbil I tells ya.

You could stop at the new restaurant, Cin City Chili, and get a three-way. I just read in today’s paper that this one guy is opening a Cincinnati (note spelling) Chili parlor (in Cincinnati chili is sold in parlors) in San Diego tomorrow. I’m telling _everyone_ about it.

Actually you should get a four-way. It’s better with the onions.

**Shibb** you big silly, that ain’t a shack, it’s a ranch. See, I get it now. Plus, my LaGrange is the Jawja one so I ain’t near the ranch.

**Ashes[sup]2[/sup]** you should buy some lollipops. In lots of different flavors. Lollipops are good and you can tell people you got em special in San Diego. And socks. In case your feet get cold. Maybe some of those slipper socks. They’ll keep your feet all cozy and warm. Hmmm… and some brownies. Brownies are always good to buy.

Okay, I’ve been hassling you about that chili restaurant. Now I have the name. I’m gonna look it up and see if it’s close by me.

Ashes, do you have the day off tomorrow? I wish I did. Not that I’d necessarily go shopping (though I should) but you make it sound so fun.

**Scout** , I sorta have the day off tomorrow, in that I’m playing hooky. Just not gonna go, nope. And yes, shopping with me is terrible much fun. The trick is regularly scheduled snack times. Also, ogling the men folk and being silly. Plus, never shop with anyone who tries on every damned piece of clothes in the store, in all sizes, and then puts everything back but one thing and then at the end of the day insists upon walking all the way back to return the one item.

Okay, here’s the problem with slipper socks **Swampy** ; they’re too grippy. I like a little glide with my slippers because my house has a nice long front hallway and I also do not like that hair sticks to the grippy things. What would be ideal is something like Uggs but with a soft sole and a reasonable price tag. Or somebody who doesn’t mind me tucking my cold toes under their legs. The lollipop idea intrigues me. Do you have specific lollipops in mind? But absolutely NO! to purchasing brownies. Perish the thought! If you buy them they will be cold and the vanilla ice cream won’t be properly melty when you eat them at home.

Pearls before swine on the chili **Rue**. I like chili with cottage cheese and might be persuaded to try a cracker. Maybe. But never onions or big pieces of tomato because I am a child and don’t like it.

I would also like to clarify that I do not find the nose glitter forty million years later. The nose glitter is found rather quickly. Oh no, it’s that carpet glitter or book glitter that lurks about and then springs out at you months later.

Gah, I’m so late! I tried to get here earlier, I really did. I started a new job Mon. (it’s only a temp position, so don’t get too excited), and there was someone sitting next to me to train me, so I only got a quick sneak at the OP earlier in the week.

But the good news is that I can access Hotmail from here, so I re-activated my account there, and if anyone here feels the need to write me, you can now do so. I’ll warn you, though, I’m not much of a correspondant.

Ok, job stuff: I have been working as a temp for about the last three years for a large French pharmaceutical company that has recently merged with another French pharmaceutical company. Because of that, all contracts end Dec. 31, and I have had to scramble a little to get another position before that deadline. Thank Og, I finally got this position at another large pharmaceutical company (think Band-aids), that, even better, pays a lot more money. The downside is, it’s only until March. I am hoping that the new, merged French pharma company will start hiring in the new year, though, because I have a lot of friends over there who would work to get me a full-time position.

I didn’t mention any of this before, because it’s all such a downer. I’m not sure why I’m bothering you with this now, except I’m feeling a little blue. This whole year has been bad for me, in so many ways. I, for one, am glad it’s over. I really need 2005 to be better.
Btw, **Lissla** , did you say new Robin McKinley? I love her! I’ll have to check it out.

Chili with cottage cheese?! I’m sorry my dear, but that just sounds so wrong.

I do like chile with chunks o’ beef, onions, black and dark red kidney beans, onions, 'maters, a touch of chipotle, etc. Then I sprinkle some grated cheese on top. Nummy, nummy in my tummy!

Speaking of tummies, among other body parts, mine seems to be shrinking. I have somehow continued to lose weight. The losing weight part is a good thing, really. Problem is, I don’t know \*how \* I’m doing it. I haven’t been exercising (other than the long-assed walk from the parking lot to my office), and I haven’t changed my eating habits. It’s just plain odd.

I’m sending good vibes towards **lightingtool’s** dad. I hope he gets to feeling a little better soon. That chemo can really make one feel awful.

In other news…well, there really isn’t any. Guess I’ll pop back out now.

Yes **taters** , cottage cheese, sort of like sour cream but not sour and fewer calories. Yum! Also, the weight loss worries me-- are you thirsty too? Tired? Unexplained weight loss is one of the symptoms of diabetes, you know. But don’t panic!

Now I will quit lounging about the MMP so that people don’t get the impression I’m obsessed.

Because I’m not.

I could quit any time.

Really.

I’m leaving now.

'Bye.

</div>

No worries **Ashes, Ashes** , I’m not usually one to go into panic mode regarding my health. In fact, one could say, that I am rather, well, negligent about keeping up with doctor visits and the like. I am overdue for my first boob squishing, overdue for my pap, etc.

As to symptons of diabetes. I’m not overly thirsty, but I try to drink quite a bit of water during the day anyway. I’m always tired, but the tiredness is something I’ve lived with for 20 odd years now.

I do try and pay attention to the diabetes symptoms as my mother has it, and her mother had it as well. My mother’s is controlled by diet. She was diagnosed with it about five years ago and was over age 60 when they diagnosed it.

I expect, that at some point, I will have it too, but I hope it holds off for a few years at any rate. I do like my occasional drink and my good quality chocolate. I am also absolutely atrocious about keeping up a regular eating schedule, which is not a good thing for a diabetic. So, if I did have it, I would have been passed out sick or worse by this time.

Oh, and finally, while I enjoy cottage cheese with some nice sliced peaches, it still doesn’t sound right in chili. I like sour cream and enjoy that kind of tarty, sour taste. That is good in chili. To each her own, I say.

**Lightningtool** , here’s a pair of hairy chested he-man bear hugs for you and dad.

What kind of leukemia does he have? My dad had M2, which is short for something like myelocytic (don’t quote me on that). That kind is considered an industrial disease, and has been linked to exposure to solvents and other organic compounds like benzene. My dad was also an engineer, so it’s logical.

I don’t want to oog you out on this. Iff’n you want to hear more let me know.

**Ashes[sup]2**\*\* you silly! You buy the brownies to eat while shopping. Gotta keep your strength up. _Sunshine_, McKinley’s vampire-romance-crazed-coffeehouse-baker story, has just come out in mass market paperback. If you haven’t read it, you should.
