There is no way of knowing if a baby is going to grow up to a long period of productivity. He or she could become a drug addict or a serial killer which means you will spend millions maintaining them while they will contribute nothing, but carnage and destruction. Old people who have paid their dues deserve their reward. Children have that to earn still.

Gosh, I hate this argument. The vast, vast majority of babies grow up to be productive adult members of society, not drug adicts, or, for goodness’ sake, serial killers.
Well, if it’s the vast, vast majority, then we could afford to lose a few potential productive adults and it wouldn’t make any difference.
