Office work vs restaurant work

McDonald’s employee assaulted
I bet this happens somewhere every day. Og knows, I saw things thrown at people, and had things thrown at me, often enough.

Um, well, we’re getting a turkey for Thanksgiving… heck, I’m just thrilled to be working in an office instead of a cubicle.

Is there a restaurant job that allows me to work from home? Because that’s hard to beat.

Being a restaurant manager is how I ended up in the army.
16 to 18 hour days except Saturday (10 hours) and Sunday (5-8 hours) for seven months straight with no days off for a fucking measly $1200. Yep close supervision, covering missing workers, training, menu development(I was in charge of the new dinner shift at a breakfast/lunch place) ordering, working on catering orders, all the GDMFING Cleaning All The Time. I was stunned that my first paycheck as an E1 Private was more after taxes than my paycheck as a manager before taxes. Never Again

I agree that restaurant work is hell, and I’ll never do it again. It was , however, very educational as a high school kid in the 1970’s.

But I’ve got an off-topic question: why were you “stunned” to see your paycheck at the new job?
Whether soldier or civilian, don’t people know how much they are going to be paid before they start?
