And we’re kind of shitty if we have a platform that doesn’t acknowledge the needs of minorities, but so many people fly off the fucking handle if you even mention that women and people of color are at a decided disadvantage in this country. White conservative voters tend to see equality as a zero sum game. So where do Dems go from here? ---

The core Trumpists are not free market conservatives, that’s a different smaller group of Republican voters who might have thought Trump less bad than Clinton, but didn’t really like him either. But even the core Trumpists aren’t nearly as hostile to capitalism as most of Bernie’s core. That’s not ‘blaming’ either group, or not intended to. But the agreement of left and right wing populists on trade protectionism is not really that major an agreement. ---

The world has been skewing right (see Brexit, xenophobia on the rise in Europe, the acceptance of far-right parties in Europe and Australia as well) in recent years…you guys have just jumped on the bandwagon. But to be honest, I expected better of you. I’ve always looked UP to you, America, as a guiding light. And now you have succumbed to the same fear-mongering as much of the rest of the western world.
