# Offshore banking in Belize

A friend is concerned about America’s economic & political stability to the point she is discussing such things as moving to Ecuador or getting an offshore account in Belize. How safe would such an account be? How much of a chance does one take with them stealing your money? What experiences does anyone here have with offshore banking?

This is just my opinion, but if America’s banking system were to fail that catastrophically, would Ecuador or Belize be that far behind? Would you even be able to access money in those accounts?
