That city is clearly the opposite of Sodom and Gomorrah, in some ways, but also freakishly vulnerable. Beware of the slut! (It must be deliberate that the two guards from last week are dressed somewhat like the guards at Swamp Castle from “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”) ---

The story of Lot. Lot was a man who lived in Sodom. When angels visited the city, in the guise of humans, he let them stay with him. Because he was a cool guy like that. The people of Sodom, however, demanded the strangers be sent out…to be violated. Lot offered up his daughters, in the angels’ stead (k, that’s kinda ‘wtf’), but were refused. This confirmed for the angels that the city, and neighbouring Gamorah should be destroyed. The angels gave Lot and his family a chance to escape, but instructed them not to look back. So, they fled, but Lot’s wife looked back, and was, as a result, turned into a pillar of salt. ---

I seem to recall in the past briefly seeing text when the page was being slow to load and the graphic icon handn’t been replaced by the graphics yet. For example when I view the source code for the current page it says in part alt=“We’re not open yet and may never be.” title=“Don’t fancy my daughters? Perhaps you’d like to lick my salty wife?” /\>\ A random check of other pages reveals alt= messages as well. Is there some convenient way to view them? (Neither of these are the funny quip in the title bar at the top of the page, which evidently is Flash text and changes every time the page reloads). ---

‘alt’ message are the mouseover text. One can apply them to graphic tags. Boy, that takes me back to the days when the net was so slow that you HAD to provide a distraction for people while the images loaded. Wow. ---

Alt messages are _not_ mouseover text, though some browsers treat them as such in the absence of a genuine mouseover (a behavior not specified in the standards, but also not prohibited). The alt text will show in place of the image, if the image hasn’t loaded (yet). Whenever I’ve had occasion to notice an alt message on Oglaf, it hasn’t been the same text as the mouseover text. Once the image is loaded, I know of no way to read the alt text other than going into the source code. ---
