I’m a bit puzzled by what happens in the epilogue of “Emancipation”. [http://www.oglaf.com/emancipation/epilogue/](http://www.oglaf.com/emancipation/epilogue/) Why does Ivan do a double take when he sees “the new boy”? Does he recognise him? At first I thought that the new boy was the same guy as the one who had Ivan kidnapped in the first place, but that wasn’t him. So why does the sight of him frighten Ivan? ---

The new apprentice doesn’t frighten him, Mistress does. If he’s been replaced, well, Ivan has had lots of opportunities to see how she disposes of people she doesn’t need. So seeing someone else in his apprentice’s uniform is not good news. ---

Luckily for Ivan, Mistress doesn’t much like the new Apprentice, so she gives him a ‘skill testing question’ that’s about as hard as the ones used in promotional sweepstakes to make them not lotteries, so as to be able to take him back without admitting she preferred him. ---
