He was also Ray Jackson in _Bloodsport_, and a bartender in an _X-Files_ episode, but he’ll always be Ogre to me. (I am sure he’s done many other things, but those three things are always what come to mind …) ---

Alright, I will admit it. I am a total nerd. Although not the type of nerd in the context of this thread. When I read the title of the thread, I thought maybe Steve Jackson who invented the OGRE giant robot tank game, had died. I will admit I knew him more from Bloodsport than Nerds. ---

Having grown up in Austin in the 70s/80s, I share your nerdy love for OGRE and Car Wars and especially his Melee RPG system, which we always preferred to D&D. I will say that Ray Jackson (and his bandana) was a wonderful character. RIP ---

I think it is because the OP wrote OGRE in the title instead of Ogre. If I see it in all caps I always think of the board game first. In low caps I probably think of DnD first and the nerd’s character after that. ---

I would even say there are almost certainly way more people who know the movie character than the board game. I just got a certain thrill out of describing myself as a nerd but not THAT kind of nerd in a thread about Revenge of the Nerds.
