Oh, cool. My friend's cat(s) peed in my shoes.

Take the cat a mouse as a peace offering.

Obviously that didn’t work, for they then pissed in your shoes. Next time try peeing on them (the cats, not your shoes). [/ducks and runs]

Totally.

There will come a day, probably a hot summer day, when someone behind you will be wondering where that faint cat pee smell is coming from.

Yeah, but the tentative lesson may come in handy once they realize your shoes are unavailable and move on to other belongings. Which, if they’re really asshole cats (and not just normal cat levels of asshole) is a definite possibility.

No, no. I meant that it might cover the scent good enough for a human not to notice, but a dog might be able to detect it and want to resoil the area. “Marking” specifically wasn’t necessary there.

Well I haven’t done it yet, just saying I’d consider the suggestion if these cats don’t back off. If they want war, I’m prepared to bring it.

Ha! Well if I start smelling pee during the summer, I buy the pet pee remover and try again. If they still stink, then yeah, fuck it.

Dunno how to tell you this. I had this happen years ago. We had 3 cats, one took ill and was incontinent. Peed in a BUNCH of my shoes.

I washed them with " Anti Cat Pee Odor Away " goop.

I washed them in a fuckload of OxyClean.

I left them out in the sunlight.

Nothing, noooooooothing, got the stench out. I tried wearing the dress shoes thinking I’d sprayed enough " Anti Cat Pee Odor Away " goo onto them. Big mistake. I’m at a funeral and people are looking at me like I smell like decay.

Throw out the shoes.

Sink the Stink has bacteria eating bacteria, and works very well in peed-in wetsuits. (Was it developed by a doper? I can’t remember.)

How do we know how bad the shoes smelled before the cat peed in them?

The smelled like the piss of unicorns!

I’ve never seen an enzyme cleaner as a ‘goop’, I’m pretty sure that it will always be a liquid that can saturate what every you’re cleaning.

You really need to allow the enzyme cleaner to dry completely without anything else. If you added a wash in OxyClean, you basically killed off the enzyme and basically had the OxyClean only. Sunlight doesn’t actually kill pee smell in any significant way. IF you put the object on grass near chlorophyll that may help, but the enzymes are the best thing that I’ve found and they have been effective when you buy a quality product. The enzymes have been developed for a long time for use in hospitals, janitorial services, kennels, etc. IF you buy a quality product they work very well. IF you have a significant amount of urine/poo, then it might take multiple treatments (because the enzymes will only eat up so much bacteria before they are exhausted).
