# Oh Crap! mr. bot's bird died!

It’s currently 6:50am my time. I wasn’t able to sleep all night, and 20 minutes ago I went into the spare room where the birds are kept. We have a pair of cockateils (somehow that spelling just doesn’t look _right_) and a pair of parakeets that mr. bot had for about 7 years. The parakeets were named Lucy & Ricky. Lucy is doing just fine, but the yellow colored Ricky was laying prostrate and cold at the bottom of the cage.

Shit, I just hate it when a pet expires. What do you do? He was ‘just a parakeet, fer chris’sakes’ you might say! But I had grown accustomed to feeding & watering him every day. I put him in a Ziploc baggie and plan on a ‘funeral’ for later today. How do I tell mr. bot that his beloved 'keet died?

“Honey, you know how Lucy & Ricky divorced? and it was for real? Well…Ricky left Lucy for that big divorce in the sky…” Damn, I’m going to feel really, really bad when I tell him the news.

How is YOUR Wednesday morning going? At least you don’t have a dead parakeet. Be grateful.

I am sorry for the loss of your bird. No companion animal is ‘just a pet’. They are loved members of the household.

Given that there is snow on the ground, the parrot-keet won’t be just pineing for the fjords, he’ll become a part of them. He’s an ex-parrot so he shan’t mind much.

Just to be on the paranoid side, any chance of carbon monoxide leaks in the house, or other fumes that might have offed the bird? You might keep an eye on the other one, just in case.
