This kind of vandalism strikes me as inherently counter productive, in any case. Better to save it for the day of the election, targeted against borderline districts in borderline states. Speaking purely hypothetically, of course. ---

The phone company has a lot more tracing ability than it gives to normal people, and \*69 alone was a serious disincentive to crank calls. I can only imagine modern computerized switches can store call information for quite a while, in great detail, and voice mail preserves all the time information they’d need. ---
