When you post a link to an illustration, please avoid doing it through your AOL account (people still have those? Who knew?) as in [http://grolier.web.aol.com:8010/Grolier/images/ONLINPIX/M/M%20041.GIF](http://grolier.web.aol.com:8010/Grolier/images/ONLINPIX/M/M%20041.GIF) This just gets me a “server not found” page. If I were on AOL, it might work. ---

Last millennium. :rolleyes: The Dope’s habit of resurrecting zombie articles from days of yore with nary a thought to updating is pretty sad. Even sadder that it’s an actual plan. ---

It’s helpful to post a link to the column in question since they don’t stay on the front page for long - [Why are the antlers on the deer in the deer crossing sign backward? - The Straight Dope](http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1449/why-are-the-antlers-on-the-deer-in-the-deer-crossing-sign-backward) The thread column is 16 years old, and unsurprisingly has a dead link. The other two links seem to work which is fairly impressive. ---
