When Dad was in the army, he’d have to go away every so often on bivouacs (isn’t that a great word? I think I’ll have to say it again…BIVOUAC) in the bush. When he got back, Mum would strip him naked, get out mineral turpentine, and search for ticks. They really love navels and armpits. He had one in his armpit once _shudder_. But I KNOW it could have been worse ---

Impossible since A) I was totally shaved “down there” and B) I never had them, not then and not after. Ah well. He wasn’t the most devoted guy in the world, no.
