3 bounty hunters, 2 men & a woman, showed up at my door! All armed, & looking for a “Mandy”. These three **reeked** of menace! I told them (truthfully) that I lived alone, & had been here since late 2008. The woman talked to me, while these two hoodlum types hid around the corner. I have a mirror positioned to see around that corner, so I knew they were there. One flashed a phoney-looking badge, but never said they were officers, or anything else. I was scared before I saw they were armed! I 9-1-1ed within seconds of locking the door, & the cops got right out here. I only found out they were bounty hunters when the cops told me. Cops ran them off. My heart is racing. I won’t sleep well tonight. ---

Glad you’re okay! But were these actual real licensed bounty hunters, or criminals pretending to be them? You mention the police ‘running them off’. ---

So you didn’t ask them why they thought someone named Mandy would be at your address? Just to make you more paranoid, you might want to make sure there’s no identity theft issue. ---

Nothing as frightening as that, but the last place I lived in had been previously rented by a guy called Justin, who was not in the good graces of several collection agencies. We got plenty of mail from them, which we always returned with the note, “Moved. No forwarding address known.” We also got very good at explaining the situation over the phone. No collection thugs ever showed up, thank God. Once, the police came because Justin had failed to appear in court on a traffic ticket, and a warrant had been issued for him. Apparently he had never filed any change of address forms after he moved out. This was over a year after we moved in. We assured the cop that Justin didn’t live there any more, and he left. Eventually, the collection agencies and cops gave up on the guy, and we’ve since moved to a different place. ---
