Friending a client on Facebook, one that might provide additional business opportunities, makes perfect sense to me. ---

My husband will be 60 this year and has used computers and the internet forever, but every time he gets a phishing email about FedEx deliveries or Ebay issues or whatever, he gets all weirded out. I think he has it in his mind that somehow we have been hacked, when really all it is is email spoofing. He’s very sensible about nearly everything except for this for some reason. ---

The story would work better if the punchline was the OP’s wry admission that her dad knows what he’s doing after all, and knows some hot blondes for real, and frankly might like the pictures she posted but not want to talk with his daughter about it. Instead, even after it turns out the daughter was wrong in her assumptions about her Dad, she still thinks it’s him not showing any sense. ---

Honestly, I fail to see anything whatsoever your dad did wrong. You, on the other hand, are a little shady for clicking through his friends on Facebook and then going into their profiles. What is the commandment he has broken in this scenario? He actually knows her professionally and they might be platonically friendly. Is the rule that he can be friends with other people as long as they aren’t too subjectively hot? That seems like unfair discrimination to me. Hot chicks need friends too. Outline your thought process here in detail because a lot of us aren’t getting it. ---

You guys are reading way too much into this. 😛 I get it, many older dopers are fully computer literate and are all up in the social media. My dad isn’t tech literate **or** a doper. I should have explained more in the OP, but he just fumblingly got on FB less than a year ago and is still figuring it out. My OP does read as ageist, so I apologize for that. Not my intent. But yes, if you’re a 60 year old man, your only friends on FB for the last 6 months have been close family members, and out of the blue you friend an attractive young woman, your son might :dubious:. …and then realize dad is a bit new to this whole game, and 😃 And it wasn’t snooping, I saw the message on my own feed - [dad] has friended [young attractive woman]. All I did was click her name and see her own public profile. Then phone him to ask, then tease a bit.
