# Oh good lord, dad. Welcome to 2013. It is a mildly funny story but I don’t think it suggests computer illiteracy or any other type. He just happens to have a client that is attractive that wants to be friends on social media. It is a Three’s Company type situation where the people doing the snooping and the insinuations are the ones the joke is really about. What is your dad supposed to do? That is what we want to know. She is the one that sent a friend request in the first place. Should he have hotness chart that he consults before he accepts them? Would a 5 or lower be a good rule to follow? ---

He genuinely is still figuring out FB - he’s made other goofy faux pas, like posting an entire photo album one post, one pic at a time. And being entirely baffled - “How did you **know** that I put a picture of my car up? And how so quickly?” Well, dad, it goes right to my phone, immediately. “Whaaaaa!!!” What is he supposed to do? Well, if he’s now in the business of friending clients, friend them all. This, to my knowledge, is the first client he’s friended. And like I said, older man, young attractive woman. When I first saw it, my gut response was “…is he up to something? He wouldn’t fool around…would he? No, he couldn’t…could he?” The naivete on his part was a lot of what made it funny to me. Think of it like this - out of the blue, your older father announces publicly he’s going out to have a drink with a much younger client, an attractive young woman. That would raise a few eyebrows. I grant that friending on FB is a few steps below having a drink with someone, but it’s the same idea. It raised my red flag such that I had to call him immediately. That it turned out innocent, there’s the humor for me. ---

Yeah, it seems like one of those “you had to be there” or “you had to know everyone involved” situations. Because otherwise it’s not really funny. It’s just something routine and benign that people do all the time. ---
