But if I had to specify what I was looking for, I would certainly specify a non-overweight guy. Why? Because I have never been attracted to a heavy guy in my life. I have several heavy male friends who I do think are attractive in an abstract sense–I probably wouldn’t date them myself, but I can see why their wives find them attractive. Come to think of it, the wives in question are slender and beautiful. **Khadaji** : Don’t assume you won’t find the slender girl of your dreams just because you’re not slender yourself. It’s not a matter of finding a woman who is not “shallow.” It’s a matter of finding a woman who happens to be attracted to YOU. ---

I assume you’re on Match, right? Match has this very strange feature to it…it considers “height” to be the alpha qualifier to all matches. Somebody can be your match in _every single category_ except height, and they won’t be matched with you. On the other hand, if the _only_ category you match is height, you stand a decent chance of being matched with someone, even if they’re looking for a lawyer who likes opera and makes $100,000/yr, and you’re a sanitation worker who likes rap music and makes $15K. Dumb? Extremely. But IMHO that’s not even the dumbest thing about Match… ---

I wish Match had a box to check for ‘willing to relocate’, like SciConnect does. I hate the winters here, and some of the people, and would love a good excuse to move south or west. That said, I don’t respond to guys who email me from Ohio; I don’t have the wherewithal to keep a long distance relationship. Those of you unfamiliar, SciConnect is a matching service for people in the science and tech fields, though there are a smattering of other fields represented. It’s a third the cost of Match…but there’s only a few thousand people on it, mostly male. ---
