Hm. Not so much control as “Well, _she_ treated me this way, and then _she_ treated me like that, so **Mo** must be about to do this…” A distinct disadvantage to getting older and having been there, done it. And I’m pretty much thinking the same thing, ya know? “Asshole number 1 reacted like this, and asshole #2 reacted like that, so you must be about to…” which is pointless and self defeating. The upside is, we both recognize the mistakes we’ve made before and are trying as hard as two people with no patience can to not repeat them. I’m actually quite a bit better this afternoon. We still haven’t talked, but he let me know that he’s there, and just knowing that brightened me up considerably. Plus, I had a talk with my surrogate son (a very young, very cute kid in our IT dept…you’d like him, **sorella** ) who knows the whole story and he gave me a hug and said “Don’t worry mama. He’ll come around. And if he doesn’t, I’ll shoot him for you.” Such a sweet boy. ---

**maureen** , one of the attributes of a person who can be spontaneously funny is that you suppress the little voice that says “no no”. otherwise, you’d just be deciding the next day what it was you coulda shoulda woulda said. **dannyv** , where’d _he_ come from?? ---

You know I kind of like it when all of a sudden these people come out of no where and talk to us like they’ve been there all along and know what’s going on because you realize…they’ve been there all along and know what’s going on. IT’s kind of creepy but it makes you wonder how many of them there are [twilight zone music starts to play] some of ‘em hate us but I’m thinkin’ some of 'em don’t … ---

Hey **dannyv** , welcome to our little hot tub party. You can have **rocky’s** spot while he’s away watching cars go in a circle. My adopted boy is 22yo, tall (to me, anyway, I’m 5’4", he’s 6’3") and basically looks like a big kid. He’s a complete goof, has dark curly hair which is finally growing back (don’t ask), is half Portuguese and half Hawaiian, and is perpetually in my cube saying “Jeez, ma, how’d I piss her off this time?” (“her” being the only drawback for you, **sorella**. He got married 7 months ago, and is deliriously in love with his bride. It’s so cute). So he was more than happy to return the favor and listen to mama pour her heart out. I throw paperclips at him over the cube wall, and he sings that _stupid_ song from Nemo under his breath to annoy me “just keep swimming, just keep swimming, that’s what we do, we just keep swimming…” And he’s very naive. You’d probably break him. ---

no, i don’t hate youus. i’ve been lurking since days long gone. (anyone remember theresa?) just haven’t had the urge to say anything until today. why today? i dunno. just that much more bored at work today, i guess. and tx is a little far away. a road trip to the east bay to see wyatt might be more doable… ---

oh, and **mipiace** i hope that some of those road trip activities include 20 questions and i spy. otherwise Boy (3) and Girl (6) won’t be very happy. Wife, on the other hand? never can tell… ---
