Okay. Well, I’m back. I was actually in the process of typing this, when the phone rang. I think I’ll leave it in, for the psychoanalysts out there, both pro and amateur. It provides a nice little capsule summary of the decay of a human mind over the course of one day. And, a picture window view into my insecurities. > [@](#): > > Ummm…yeah. Nope; just left, but she’ll be back in a few minutes. Okay. I call back in a few minutes because, by now, I’ve realized she doesn’t stand still for long. No luck. Maybe in 10 or 15 minutes, I’m told. Fifteen minutes later, they still haven’t seen her. So, I leave my name and number at this location, too. We have a date for next Saturday night. 😃 And, I now know her last name, her top three places she’d like to travel (two of which we have in common), that she’s an outdoorsy type (!! I never would have guessed _that_, from last night!), and a _reader_! I also know her email address, and that she really _is_ interested in seeing me, again. Unf\*ckingbelievable! Life _doesn’t_ suck, sometimes. Who knew? Oh! I also learned that she had only been in the bar we met in four times, in thirteen years! I shoulda played the lottery, cuz my lucky star was shining brightly, last night. I’m too tired, now, to be giddy or think straight, though. (But, the smile is back. :)) Where was I headed, with this? I had a point. Oh, yeah. **tanookie** , she also told me some people had mentioned being stuck in traffic, getting there, for an hour. YMMV. (Damn! That’s _so_ close to being literally applicable! But, not quite.) Oh, and thank you to all the folks who posted after the last time I checked in, for the good wishes and advice. 🙂 (_I know._ :rolleyes: Some people are going to start bitching about all the smilies. Well, they can just bite me. 😛 )(See? You can’t be sure the curmudgeon is really dead unless you’ve personally driven a toothpick through his tiny little heart. ;)) ---

But, Mapquest told me how to avoid the Hampton tollbooth, at least on the way up. I’ll have to get the directions for how to get home, because I went through it on the way back. Eh! It’s fifty cents. Wow, I can so relate to the whole ‘decay of the human mind over the course of a day’ thing. Seems like you channeled the energy well and got yourself on track. Oh, yeah, and the fact that she called helps a bit, eh? My vote is that, yes, it is now offiially fine to bring flowers. Nothing creepy about nice flowers on a first date, IMO. Good call on your decision to stay in the area. I think Driving Under the Influence of Infatuation can be just as dangerous as the **other** driving under the influence. ---

I was SO JEALOUS of you, **Davebear** , until last night. It goes like this: I met this guy on Thursday night. With my PARENTS. Ugh. (I like them fine. It’s just…well, awkward!) Anyway, I’ve been wondering if he’d call. He lives in Texas, so this is going to be dang awkward. He’s a stand-up comedian, so he’s ALWAYS on the road. But last night…he calls! And the call goes well! And he really is as nice as I’d thought he was on Thursday! _bouncing_ I’m ready to get into my car and drive to Texas right now… I’m happy for ya, Dave. 🙂 Isn’t it FUN being on the pink cloud??? ---
