I was going to ask the same thing. I think a co-ed monastery would lose some of that monk mystique that they’ve been building up over the centuries. Brand identity is everything these days. It’s not a bad idea, though. Think of all the things monks have invented over the years; coffee, champagne, genetics. If you could secure the intellectual property rights, this whole venture could be a gold mine. The cross-promotional opportunities would be enormous: Hand-copied manuscripts at every Kinko’s. The enticing new fragrance; “Cloister”, by Calvin Klein. A chain of Monk E. Spank’s pizza restaurants. And, of course, a strict vow of silence will be enforced at the monastery; except when the aardvarks are nuzzling you will be allowed to yell “slip her the tongue!” ---

The management didn’t appreciate that. And, we never got any chicks, but it was in a techie environment, and there weren’t many chicks to begin with. So, morning update. I finally heard back from Harmony. And, she was giving me crap about not answering her question, when she asked who I was going to see Springsteen with. Apparently, she has a _thing_ about having her questions answered. But, somehow I don’t think “None of your damn business” would have made her any happier. So, I guess I was getting the Silent Treatment, as punishment for being a bad boy. She also said I “could have said ‘just some friends’” if I didn’t want to be more specific. I suppose that’s true, but she then chastised me for being “evasive” and “dishonest” by not answering. I think “just friends” is more evasive and dishonest than not answering. What do you guys n’ gals think? I don’t think she’s going to like my response, either. So, I guess that’s that. Woohoo! 0 for 3! I’m on a roll. ---

I think I’m glad I’m not dating! Honestly though this whole thing is getting way too confusing between the ex/friend with benefits, the chick from match and the beach babe… when do you sleep? Even when I was dating I never had the energy to juggle boyfriends very well… It just seemed to complicated to me. I don’t know what to tell ya. ---

Dishonest? I am sorry, but that´s BS. Not telling people stuff they are not supposed to know is the most honest thing you can do, actually. I almost had a slip of tongue and told my best friend things that were confidential. I told him so and even though his curiosity probably ate him up, I think it´s better than to invent something, just so that he can have an answer (or in your case she can). ---

Well, **Dave** , it looks like my opinon may be unpopular. Me being a pretty up-front person, even in dating (I don’t volunteer information, but will answer questions with, sometimes unpleasant, honesty … assuming they are about me and no confidential information is involved), I probably woulda told Harmony “If you must know, I’m going with my ex.” I mean, after all, you were just in the early stages of Match correspondence, so she had no reason to assume you weren’t seeing anyone else at the time. Another possibility; she _may_ have been probing to see if you would ask _her_ to go with you. Of course, my preoccupation with honesty could be why I’m still searching. 😃 Hmm … maybe you _don’t_ want my opinion. ---

sorry, obviously behind the times, I was chiming in on the monastery. Or should it be called Bistery? D’bear, fercryinoutloud, you just got out of a 10 year relationship. Is there ANY reason you’re trying to get into another one, instead of just getting laid and enjoying yourself until you relax and heal from that rather messy and drawn out break up? ---

Wow Dave, sorry I just managed to wander in here. I had hoped you had found something to make you happy. You know sometimes though, those rebound relationships don’t really last anyway. Hang in there, another one will come along when you are on better footing with yourself. Maybe just don’t jump in quite so fast next time with all of your emotions. The subject of the concert only came up on the day of the show, so if she was fishing, she was way too late. But, she _did_ have reason to think I wasn’t seeing anyone else, because I’d told her so. And, I still maintain that it’s true. Sherri doesn’t count; she’s just a friend, at this point. (With privileges, perhaps, but without potential for a relationship beyond friendship.) Theresa had vanished. The other lady from Match hadn’t contacted me, yet. So, there really was no one. And, if there _had_ been, I don’t think that would be a good way for her to try to find out. If you think back to the OP, one of the reasons I was so stunned that Theresa let me pick her up was because I’d never succeeded at picking up a woman in my entire life, prior to that. I guess I’d be willing to try living the “swinging-single” lifestyle for a while, but I would have no idea how to go about it. And, really, the only recent break up that’s bothered me a lot is Theresa. The relationship with Sherri had been on total life support for over a year before I declared it dead (to myself) last November. For various reasons, I didn’t _actually_ break up with Sherri until recently, but that was really just “the paperwork”. Methinks you need a vacation from all things dating related and a little time to acclimate to being truly single. I’m not sure that Harmony knows what she wants either. From reading along she is seeing other guys and yet she doesn’t seem happy about the prospect of those other guys seeing other women. And you can only ‘guard your heart’ so much before you stop using it altogether so don’t close it up completely. I’m also beginning to think Wyatt is insane. Oh and Dave, the OP was 8 pages ago… we’re allowed to lose track 😉 ---
