Oh, my fucking gawd does insomnia suck

I have bad sleeping problems in summer, especially whenever I’ve lived far north.

It’s odd. Now that I’m working from home, I get up around 3:30am even on weekends. And so can’t stay awake past about 8pm. My Wife is on this schedule too (she kinda started it). And now the dogs are as well. It’s ok, I get enough sleep, but that’s a little bit early for me.

When I used to go into work/office, I would get up at 5:15am. That was ok, but always liked to sleep in a little bit. I did not expect this at all.

FWIW, I still had regular periods until about 55. Then, they got a bit irregular, and for fewer days, but (not to be too graphic) chunkier than usual. I don’t think I completely stopped my periods until 57-58.

Oh, I sooooo hoped for this when a supermarket clerk told me that her migraines stopped post menopause. Especially since I had had a migraine that day and had just barfed in the parking lot. No such luck. I still get migraines 10 yrs past menopause, but they’ve mostly been a little less severe (I haven’t barfed in years). But. I still get them when I’m under a lot of pressure, and I still need to keep my sumitriptan prescription up-to-date.

Yeah. I’ve said for decades that the brain is a MORON.

Pity we can’t bottle the driving-hypnosis thing.

Since I’ve learned to use audiobooks etc. as a sleep aid I don’t usually have that much trouble falling (or staying) asleep, but if it were not for Modern Pharmaceuticals, I wouldn’t be able to drive more than an hour safely no matter how much sleep I’ve had.

Urgh. Insomnia does indeed suck.

My fall-back is just watch TV or read till I pass out.

I figure if I can’t sleep I may as well be entertained.

Good tip. Browsing a message board on my phone is probably a mistake.
