Primary attraction is that instant hit of lust you feel when you see someone attractive. Think Chris Hemsworth or Margot Robbie. Secondary attraction is the attraction you build after you get to know someone. After you learn to respect their intellect, you respect their personality, you build an emotional bond with them, they make you feel safe and understood, etc. This would be more like the guy who thinks his wife is the most beautiful woman in the world, despite her being objectively plain. They are called Demisexuals because they do not feel primary attraction, only secondary attraction. Demi means half. ---

Thats a good question that I don’t have an answer to. Do I want to live in a society where everyone who isn’t heteronormative is considered mentally ill, shoved into the closet and thrown in jail? No. Do I want to live in a society where I have to listen to condescending lectures from morally bankrupt pseudointellectuals over pedantic terminology? Also no. The second situation is obviously much better than the first. But ideally society should be somewhere in the ~70th percentile between those two extremes. ---

And condescending, rude, sanctimonious, predatory, toxic assholes in the BBQ pit just looking for any signs of vulnerability or non-conformity to use to attack and hurt others, like hungry dogs desperately looking for red meat. The annoying ones are the loudest ones, and the source of all the stories you hear out of campuses. I know a ton of folks at every conceivable place along the LGBTQ+ spectrum, and while a lot of them are hyper-vigilant online to their friends, none of them are the type to go off on strangers for not reading their minds. Whiny university nitwits exist, but as a percentage of the public they’re at near-strawman levels. ---

It may be worth remembering that very few battles for equal rights came about as the quick and simple result of the majority’s unparalleled beneficence and infinite largesse. They’re usually hard-fought struggles that take time, and often the tip of the spear is considered – particularly at the time, and to some – to be really, _really_ extreme. Many of us live the lives we do _on the shoulders of_ such people, such movements, and such activism. And as much as those things can yield progress, they can also ruffle feathers along the way. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. ---

This is somewhat off topic, but how do you feel about the subset of black people who have responded to the civil rights movement that gave them freedoms and opportunities by embracing criminality, out of wedlock pregnancy, rejecting education and literacy as being ‘too white’, etc? Sometimes civil rights movements have bad effects for some people, and these people push the civil rights movement backwards instead of forwards. I think the far leftists who are dogmatic, morally bankrupt, patronizing, hypersensitive and pedantic about terminology are doing far more harm than good overall. ---
