Oh no! It's Isabel! She's coming right for us!!

Or you could lose power and wind up with the better part of multiple gallons of spoiled milk. Kind of a crap shoot, I suppose.

When we were snowbound during the President’s Day Blizzard, we didn’t stock up, but we got along on the contents of the pantry. By the 3rd day, I was doing some creative cooking, but we were able to hike to the grocery for a few things. I learned from that to keep a reasonably stocked pantry and be sure to have sufficient water.

Then again, we didn’t lose power.

Well, FCM, I’m consistently amazed at the number of people who own generators in my town. I mean, we’re about 100 miles inland and haven’t had a significant hurricane event since Andrew. Mr. Amanita and I tend to make sure we have ice and batteries, and as you describe, plan on eating what we already have in the pantry during emergencies.

According to the tracking map, Buffalo & Toronto have a chance at getting a direct hit by what will still be a tropical storm when it gets there.
That’s just bizarre.

Just got off the phone with my husband - he’s still without power - he said it looks like it’s limited to the Federal Hill area, as there are lights downtown and across in Fells Point. He also said the water is 8 or 9 feet higher than normal. If they didn’t have floating docks, they’d be in real trouble.

I’ve decided if my flight is overbook and they need my seat, I’ll give it up for a future flight and a resked for next week. So we’ll see if I get to Balto tonight or not.

Time for folks to let us know you’re alive!

In my parts, (Philly area), no one stocks up on toilet paper. The big three items (esp for snow storms) is milk, bread and eggs, with token shots by local news crews of these aisles being gutted in the supermarkets. No one ever mentions toilet paper.

At some biz meeting in DC, we were joking about a storm scare and I mentioned the milk, bread, egg rush and someone else from Baltimore commented that it was definitely milk bread and toilet paper.

We’re all nuts in one way or the other.

Still alive (and obviously with power) up here. I’ve had 2 days off from school, though.

“We’d better stock up before the hoarders get here.”

I didn’t lose power at all. The local trees were pruned and that’s about it. 4-day weekend for everybody!
