And that’s great. But you didn’t say that in your initial post. I, for one, would not expose myself to the point where I would require the use of an affirmative defense to save myself from trouble.
To reiterate, if you don’t have a CCW permit, don’t carry a concealed weapon. That’s all I’m saying. If you don’t, and you’re carrying, and you do use it, expect to spend a very long time and a considerable sum of money staying out of jail.
You are assuming that the copycat (assuming this is a copycat, and not a horrifyingly coincidental set of isolated incidents) is weighing the consequences of his actions. In reality, people who commit murder either aren’t thinking of consequences (as in crimes of passion, etc) or don’t believe they will be caught. Why would rapid execution of Malvo have had any effect? This guy is thinking to himself, “That Malvo was an idiot, leaving clues, taunting the police, sleeping in rest areas. I won’t make any dumb mistakes like that!”
No, it doesn’t. Charleston is my hometown. I’m in Morgantown right now, at college, but I’m scared for my family and friends at home. I just hope they catch this asshole, and soon.
There’s nothing on their website, but MSNBC was saying that police had a description of the vehicle. Of course, they thought the D. C. sniper was in a van for a long time.
I’d just like to jump back in and say that I was wrong about the two additional shootings on Friday. Local radio was reporting two rumored additional shootings but, the sheriff’s office said those reports were untrue at a news conference later in the day. I jumped the gun without waiting for confirmation. Sorry!
